Skeet Ulrich can rest easy. The actor and one-time "next big thing" still has a job. Skeet's show, "Jericho," received a last minute pardon from CBS after an impassioned letter-writing campaign by fans. Amid the madness and peanuts, searches on "Jericho" surged 136%.

The idea of regular folks lighting candles and rallying behind corporate-produced TV shows strikes us as sad. However, we can't argue with the results. The fans got what they wanted, and Search helped their cause. Terms like "save jericho" and "jericho lives" boasted huge gains and Skeet's lovely co-star Ashley Scott jumped 133%. Power to the people!

So, "Jericho" will live to broadcast another day. But, should its ratings falter next season, CBS may have no choice but to pull the plug for good. Or, perhaps the network and fans can find a compromise. "CSI: Jericho," anyone?
